Isolation Hangers
INS Acoustics range of isolation hangers are there to help reduce structure-borne vibrations from sources such as ductwork and piping that are either noise and vibration sources or paths which can transmit vibrations into the supporting structure.
The hangers are typically installed in line with threaded rod supports to break the rigid support path and isolate against unwanted low frequency and high frequency vibrations.

FH Hanger Installation Guide.pdf
Description
Kinetics Model FH hangers are recommended for use in isolating high frequency noise produced by suspended equipment, piping, and ductwork. FH Hangers incorporate a coded, molded, inorganic fiberglass isolation pad attached to a steel load transfer plate and to a stamped or welded hanger bracket. Hangers will allow a support rod misalignment through a 30° arc. Isolation brackets will carry 500% overload without failure. Fiberglass pads are fine (00027″ diameter/6.8 microns) bonded annealed glass fibers which are stabilized by severely overloading the material during manufacture, and then coated with a flexible moisture-impervious elastomeric membrane. Fiberglass is unique in that the natural frequency is constant over a wide operating load range, and the stiffness increases proportionately with load applied. Model FH fiberglass Isolation Hangers are available in sizes with capacities from 250 to 900 lbs. (113 to 408 kg), with deflection of .18 to .27″ (5 to 7 mm). Kinetics Model FH hangers are recommended for the isolation of vibration produced by suspended mechanical or electrical equipment, in-line and exhaust fans, ductwork, piping, etc.
Application
Kinetics Model FH hangers are recommended for use in isolating any suspended source of audible frequency vibration, or noise, located near a critically quiet area.
Isolation of noise in piping and ductwork systems from a building structure is a typical use of Model FH hangers. Piping within 100 pipe diameters of connection to mechanical equipment should be isolated with Model SFH spring and fiberglass hangers to control transmission of low frequency vibration as well as noise.
High sound transmission loss ceiling systems can be effectively isolated by Model FH hangers. When isolating sources of predominately low frequency noise such as flyover aircraft, Model SFH hangers are recommended.
Model FH hangers are shipped fully assembled and ready for installation in threaded rod suspension systems.
Specification
Vibration isolators with maximum static deflection requirements under the operating load conditions not exceeding .27″ (7 mm) shall be hangers consisting of a pre-compressed molded fiberglass insert, complete with load transfer plate and assembled in a stamped or welded steel bracket.
The fiberglass insert shall be individually coated with a flexible, moisture-impervious elastomeric membrane. The insert shall be molded from glass fibers with fiber diameters not exceeding .00027″ (6.8 microns) and with a modulus of elasticity of 10.5 million PSI (738,223 kg/cm2).
Natural frequency of fiberglass vibration isolators shall be essentially constant for the operating load range of the supported equipment. Vibration isolators shall be coded to indicate load capacity.
The hanger bracket shall be designed to carry a 500% overload without failure and to allow a support rod misalignment through a 30° arc without metal-to-metal contact or other short circuit.
Isolation hangers shall be selected by the manufacturer for each specific application to comply with deflection requirements as shown on the Vibration Isolation Schedule or as indicated on the project documents.

SRH Hanger Installation Guide.pdf
Description
Kinetics Model SRH vibration isolation hangers consist of free-standing, large diameter, laterally stable steel springs in series with an elastomer-in-shear insert, assembled into a stamped or welded hanger bracket. To assure stability, the spring element has a minimum lateral spring stiffness of 1.0 times the rated vertical stiffness. Hangers will allow a support rod misalignment through a 30° arc without short-circuiting. Isolation brackets will carry a 500% overload without failure. Hangers are available in deflections from 1.20″ to 2.40″ (30 to 61 mm) and 4.09″ and 4.40″ (104 mm to 12 mm), and in capacities from 35 to 3850 lbs. (16 to 1747 kg). Model SRH hangers are superior to hangers which incorporate only springs, which can transmit noise through the all metal construction, and hangers which incorporate only pads, which can transmit low frequency vibration. Kinetics Model SRH hangers are recommended for the isolation of vibration produced by suspended mechanical equipment, low-speed suspended fans, transformers, ductwork, piping, etc
Application
Kinetics Model SRH hangers are used to isolate suspended sources of both audible and inaudible noise and vibration. Suspended mechanical equipment such as in-line fans, cabinet fans, and piping and ductwork in close proximity to mechanical equipment are typical uses of Model SRH hangers.
Kinetics’ minimum recommendation for the placement of spring hangers is that they be installed on all piping in the equipment room and on the first 50’ (15 m) for piping that extends outside of the equipment room. For typical installations, the three spring hangers closest to the equipment should have equal deflection to the equipment isolators. The remaining spring hangers should have a minimum deflection of 1” (25 mm). In noise sensitive areas, the pipe hangers selected should have the same deflection as that specified for the equipment isolation and all piping in the building should be isolated.
Standard Model SRH hangers are shipped fully assembled and ready for installation in threaded metal rod suspension systems.
Model SRH hangers are available in a wide range of load and static deflection selections and can be provided with labor-saving accessories for adaption to wire or strap suspension systems, and may be preloaded for ease in erecting piping at a fixed elevation.
